BRIEF:
Design a Performative Modular System that interprets Australia
The modular system must be environmentally, economically and socially sustainable
flexibleable to be used in different contexts with different materials
CONCEPT:
The concept which frames the modular system is that it can be adapted to any environment, material, furniture configurations and location. The modular system is utilised to create a functioning canopy, bar, tables, stools and decorative, aesthetic ally pleasing chandeliers hanging from the trees within the canopy area. The canopy of the bar has a dual function. It provides shade for the occupants, but it is also a sculpture resembling the sails of the Sydney Opera House - a distinctive Australian architectural icon. The colours chosen are green and gold which represent the colours of Australian sportspeople.
INSPIRATION BOARD
Inspiration & concept
The Australian native flower, Paper Daisy, was used as inspiration. I wanted my modular system to have adaptability as a major feature. The Paper Daisy plant is very adaptable to cultivation.
STORY BOARD
Formation of how the modular system would link together
SKETCHES
The left hand side shows that the modular system can also be converted into difftent form such as a table base, a stool base, a chandelier which is also incoperated in the festival
MATERIAL BOARD
Sustainable materials such as smart glass and plywood are used to adapt to the performative
capacity of the design.
